The 4th annual Strides 4 Sight 5k Walk/Run & Kids Fun Run is just around the corner! Join us on Sunday, October 8th as we walk, run, jog, skip – whatever form of moving you’d like – to help us change lives, one eye at a time. The funds raised from the registration fees, silent auction, and our generous sponsors and personal donors will directly benefit The Vision Project (formerly Operation Eyesight), a charity outreach program that offers eye treatments to community members in need.
Race Details
The race will once again be held around the beautiful Como Lake in St. Paul (1360 N. Lexington Pkwy, St. Paul, MN 55117). Race check-in opens at 8:00 am, the Kids Fun Run begins at 8:30 am, and the 5k will take place at 9:00 am.
Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome at the race and the kids are sure to enjoy the obstacle course we have in store for them as part of the Kids Fun Run! Following the 5k, an Awards Ceremony will be held in the Registration building, honoring the top three men and women finalists with medals. Ribbons will also be handed out to each Kids Fun Run participant for completing the obstacle course.
Registration
The registration fee is $25 for those who register on or by September 25th. Anytime after September 25th, registration is $30 for the 5k. We do offer an online discount for groups of 5 or more that register together, so bring your friends, family and co-workers and receive a discounted fee! The Kids Fun Run is $10 per child, ages 2-11. The Minnesota Eye Foundation’s Vision Project
As mentioned, all proceeds from the Strides 4 Sight fundraising event will help patients receive the eye care they desperately need, but are unable to afford. Originally called Mission Cataract, we were only able to offer cataract surgery through this charity outreach program when it began. The name changed to Operation Eyesight and again just recently to The Vision Project. We are now able to offer a large variety of charitable eye care procedures, including corneal transplants, glaucoma procedures, and even oculoplastic surgeries in addition to performing cataract procedures. With the extra support from Strides 4 Sight, we now have the opportunity to care for more patients than ever and are happy to have extended our surgical days throughout the year.
