Dr Sonja is wonderful!! Kind, she shows and explains what the next steps are after cataract surgery. She told me what will happen for my next visit in 2 weeks. And answered all my questions. I came to MN Eye Consultants and Mark for a second opinion after receiving vague information from an optometrist after glaucoma testing. To say I was filled with anxiety upon my arrival would be an understatement. However, once I arrived, every person I came in contact with was an absolute pleasure. The various nurses took their time to get to know me and my concerns. In regards to Mark specifically, he was a breath of fresh air. He made me feel incredibly comfortable and at ease. Not once did I feel like a number. Instead, Mark took his time to explain everything to me in great detail. He allowed me to ask all my questions without feeling rushed for time. I had a technician named Ally who performed preliminary tasks on two machines and then led me to a waiting room where I took the time to visit a restroom I'd seen on the way to the room Ally was assigned. Then I had good news with Dr. Hanson--(1) the outer layer of my cornea had wrinkles two years ago but as yet I had no bluriness. (2) I am still wearing glasses that were purchased in 2000, and my vision has changed very little, (so for the time being I will not be filling my current prescription). It gets no better than this! I am no longer driving so that my daughter who works from home arranges for a day off for medical appointments. I was in to check my pressures after a few months of a revised therapy with a powerful compound drop medication. Both eye pressures were stable with the last visit. Dr. Riedel could see all the history with visits to other team members and their recommendations. He made one small correction to the record: I appreciated the attention to detail. I was told to schedule the next two visits, in August 2024 and in January 2025, where Dr. Riedel is now scheduling! I was also told about what was going to be tested in the visits and why. I explained a recent scary issue I had stepping from bright light into the darkness of the theater. I thought it might have been something new; instead Dr. Riedel said that it was from the long term damage to the optic nerve from glaucoma. I went in for a Visual Field Test, which is sort of like playing an old fashioned video game, but the results if negative, are no fun. I had three new team members for this visit: Samir, Liam, and Marta. All of them were very polite, friendly and good at their jobs. I know that a lot of medical practices are having trouble getting and keeping new team technicians and nurses, so this says a lot about MN Eye Practice's ability to sustain growth with high quality patient service. I have been having more challenges to my mobility with times of day and light changes, so I had some anxiety about the results of the Visual Field Test. Samir did a complete intake of my own comments about vision changes and issues I described, and he asked questions and inputted them into the e-chart. Liam helped me through the test, and answered a couple of questions I had. Dr. Riedel, with Marta, in the room, announced that my Visual field was stable! First, this is Lynn Gilmore, patient. Ken is my husband. My experience was quite well actually by Bridget Pre Op; Rebecca recovery; Rose Bill and Carrol w OC; Dr. S. Reeves, MD! Excuse if names are not correct. All here were calm and attentive to me w questions and answers or taking vitals/tests and letting me know what to expect. I was anxious at my arrival due to being a bit late and I had medicated my right eye the day before as I thought was the assigned eye, but it was the left eye that was scheduled. That was checked, then assured me I could still proceed w surgery on left eye. Dr. Reeves did very well, no problem and I was able w husband's help to manage drops at home and other directions given. To my delight the second day back home I realized when I closed my right eye, my left eye could see brightly and white, not previous dull yellow. My post meet up in Richter's office went very well the next day and I look forward to finish my recovery of left eye surgery and have the 2nd eye surgery with more understanding. I had cataract surgery at a different facility in Woodruff Wisc. It was messed up. I now have glaucoma in my right eye. I was referred to Dr Hwang from another very reputable doctor, Dr Hardten. I trusted Dr Hwang enough to do cataract surgery on my left eye. That surgery turned out perfect. It is a 4-1/2 hour drive from where we live to Blaine Minnesota. I've been wearing glasses and visiting Optometrists over the past 50+ years. Throughout this time I commonly became fatigued while reading, attending educational conferences requiring me to focus upon written text/equations and while driving a vehicle over long distances. After taking measurements, Dr. Melicher explained that surgery was an option if I wanted it. y She explained the surgery in detail. The more I asked, the more she explained. There was a scheduling issue in the way the surgery was described to my insurance, which would've pushed back my date and cost me more than $1,000. Dr. Melicher waived the issue, ate the cost, and got me in! The entire surgical team was outstanding. I felt completely relaxed. At some point, during the surgery, the CRNA woke me, and Dr. Melicher was there calmly giving me instructions so she could get my eyelids balanced. That was a surreal moment being awakened like that! I was put back under, she finished up, and I went home without any pain. I followed the post-op instructions, and I have NO SCARS! You'd never know I had corrective surgery. Dr. Lindstrom is the best! He first performed RK surgery in 1986 while he was at the U of M. This is before the lasik surgery. My vision was great until my mid-forties—thanks to getting older.
