Christine Larsen, M.D., specializes in the treatment of glaucoma and cataract surgery at Minnesota Eye Consultants. She is medical director for the practice’s five ancillary surgery centers. She also serves as adjunct clinical faculty at the University of Minnesota and works with residents at both the Minneapolis VA and Hennepin County Medical Center.
Originally from Nebraska, Dr. Larsen pursued her undergraduate degree at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, graduating with Highest Distinction. She completed her doctor of medicine degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She obtained her ophthalmology residency training at the at the same institution, where she served as Chief Resident and was honored with the Outstanding Resident Research Award. She completed her fellowship in Glaucoma at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI and was awarded numerous scholarships and grants throughout her academic career.
Dr. Larsen is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She has served on multiple committees within these organizations and presented at their national meetings. She has published several peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has been involved in medical mission initiatives within the United States and internationally. Dr. Larsen is also actively involved in research and has served as principal investigator for several US clinical trials. She also has an interest in health policy, having participated in advocacy efforts through leadership roles with the American Medical Association as a medical student, the Nebraska Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons as a resident, and has served as an elected participant in the American Glaucoma Society’s Health Policy Leadership Development Program.
Dr. Larsen’s husband is also a practicing glaucoma specialist. They moved to the Twin Cities after completion of training where they are raising their son and twin daughters.
