My experience was very good. Starting with prep step was great. Very nice, friendly nurses. A visit from the doctor before surgery, I appreciated so questions can be asked if you have any. Once I was taken in to surgery did not feel a thing. That was very good for me. Having an exam day after surgery is even very good. Questions may arise after surgery, which most likely I will have and will ask. Very good experience. I have known Dr. Award for many years and is still the caring doctor I have known from the past. Dr. Awad is the best. He helped me with two Corneal transplants over the last year. Each one went great. My wife and I believe he is an excellent surgeon and he and his staff were very helpful on all of our follow up appointments. They are all very patient and knowledgeable in answering our questions. It was very scarry, at least for me, to have had to have a transplant in each eye. I saw Dr. Awad & his team today! I spent a half hour just testing & then saw Dr. Awad! My right eye may soon need a cornea transplant. Dr Awad explained it thoroughly & the caterac in that right eye done at the same time. Dr. Awad performed cataract surgery on my left eye yesterday, June 29. Today an optometrist at Birch Lake Eye Clinic performed the "day after" check of my eye and remarked that the lens replacement was so good that he hardly could see that there had been surgery!! Dr Awad is exceptionally competent. He has now conducted surgery on my eyes 3 times....many many years ago for caretconus (sp?) and I just had my 2nd cataract surgery. My distance vision is now better than it was when I was in college and for the first time I am traveling without lugging all my contact lens paraphernalia!!!! I feel light as a bird! Dr Awad, is great professional, his knowledge of my the disease,(Fuch's dystrophy). I had alot of fear. Dr Awad calmed me by not only by his answers to what was happening, but his compassion. I had seen other doctors. The University of Minnesota clinic, and another private clinic. My overall experience with them was very cold, maybe they treated many, but it was happening to ME. When I got to the point I needed a transplant.
